BIBPC #5 Category 7 + A Poll

Hi there!

I’m here with another BIBPC entry! This is the last category!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I haven’t been posting many normal posts lately. I hope to make a crafty post soon, but I guess I’ve just not had much time, with school now in session! At the end of this post I have a poll that you can vote in for what post you’d like to see next!

Here is my entry for the Category Tiny!

GO KIWI!!

DSCN2711 (2)

Story: We went to a lake while on vacation this past summer, and there were some adorable little ducklings! It was really neat to be able to photograph them!

I also have two extra photos for the previous category, Reflection/shadow.

DSCN4205.jpg

This picture I took for an art class!

DSCN4272.jpg

And this is one of the pictures I got when I was trying to get a photo for the category. It is a picture of my lamp. Instead of a shade, it has strings of reflective plastic circles.

I also designed a poster for the next BIBPC…

BIBPC #6

BIBPC is always so fun! I’m glad I got do do it again, and look forward to future ones! You can check it out yourself atย https://abarefootgal.wordpress.com/?s=BIBPC !

And now… A poll!

Hopefully I’ll be able to get the most-voted-for post up soon, but I guess I’ll have to see how busy I am ๐Ÿ™‚

So…

Until next time, Have a blessed day!

BIBPC #5 Category 5

You’ve possibly seen me post about BIBPC previously.

But if not, I’m participating in Megan‘s Boring into Beautiful Photography Contest (BIBPC)!

I am on team Kiwi! LET’S GO KIWI!!

The Category is “Fresh”

CAM03037edit.jpg

I had wanted to bake soft pretzels, and I realized that they would fit the category (fresh out of the oven!)! I actually took this with my phone (and then edited on Picmonkey. I think I’ve edited all my BIBPC photos ๐Ÿ™‚ ). I took it with my phone because, long story short, as I was taking some pictures, my camera ran out of battery and (a) I didn’t really want to replace them and (b) I wasn’t sure that I actually had four charged batteries ready… so I grabbed my phone and decided it was good enough! (Slightly longer story, I was also quite tired of working on the pretzels… it was almost 3:00 and I hadn’t eaten lunch! XD ๐Ÿ˜› )

I’m also going to go ahead and include an extra photo for the last category, ‘Celebration’ ๐Ÿ™‚

DSCN2180edit.jpg

This is a picture I took at my brother’s graduation party! The little graduation candies are mints ๐Ÿ™‚ .

Do you like soft pretzels?

Have a blessed day!

Questions and Fun Facts – Get to Know the Dolls + BIBPC

Today I have kind of a different type of post!

How would you like to get to know the Thomas family better?

Get to Know the Dolls featureimage

Here’s how this works…

-I will ask questions, and each of my dolls will give an answer. I will name fun facts about the dolls, too!ย

-During the post, I will include a few pictures of the dolls that I have taken in the past, and never displayed on this blog before. I’ll include a little description about the story behind the picture, too!ย

-Then, at the end of the post, you get to participate and ask the dolls some questions yourself, or have your own dolls answer!

I thought that it would be fun to do a kind of Q&A for my dolls, and thus show you some more about their personalities and character!

Let’s begin!

Questions

Do you prefer wearing Skirts or Pants?

Clara: Skirts!!!

Grace: I guess it depends the occasion…. But if I have to pick one, then… pants?

Caroline: I like skirts, but I am partial to longer ones. Otherwise I’d rather pants.

Julie: I prefer pants. Dresses are nice, but pants are more practical.

Coffee or Tea?

Clara: Neither, please! I’d much rather have chocolate milk or juice!

Grace: Coffee… if Julie would let me… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Caroline: Tea is my favorite!

Julie: Coffee.

Are you more Tomboyish or Girly?

Clara: I think I’m kind of neither. I love being active, and I’m not very into fashion and things, but I do love pink… not to mention skirts!

Grace: Probably leaning towards girly.

Caroline: I’m with Grace on this one.

Julie: Tomboy, but even more so when I was a bit younger. I’m not as much anymore.

CAM00005.jpg
This is a picture I got when I first took Grace home from the AG store! And, um, don’t mind the foot in the background… XDย

Which, of your sisters, would you say is your Best Friend in the family?

Clara: Grace! I enjoy playing with her, and we hang out a lot. She’s also the closest to me in age!

Grace: Clara and I spend a lot of time together, not to mention that we share a room, so we’re pretty close. However, I do really love it when I get to spend time with Julie and Caroline.

Caroline: I’m closest to Julie in the family. I feel like I can just talk to her about things on my mind, and I greatly appreciate the heartfelt conversations that we have, often discussing biblical things.

Julie: I would consider Caroline my best friend in the family, but I also really enjoy spending time with Grace. Grace and I enjoy shopping together sometimes, or cooking and baking in the kitchen together.

Are you more Introverted or Extroverted?

Clara: People would guess I’m an extrovert, which is probably correct. I can be a little shy at first, but I warm up quickly, and then I’m outgoing!

Grace: I’m more extroverted. I like meeting someone new, and enjoy being around people a lot.

Caroline: Introverted. I enjoy having alone time and family time.

Julie: I’m an introvert, but I’m willing to step out and introduce myself to someone new, especially in a place that I’m familiar with, so you might not be able to tell that I’m introverted.

Indoors or Outdoors?

Clara: Outdoors!

Grace: Both, but I’m leaning towards outdoors.

Caroline: I prefer the outdoors. Not so much for sports and things, but for enjoying God’s beautiful nature. I enjoy gardening, as well as reading outside.

Julie: I prefer indoors.

I got this picture after I had built my AG-sized bars and beam! (I built the bars with these instructions!) These have been featured in Clara’s past gymnastics posts!ย

Favorite and Least Favorite subjects?

Clara: My favorite subject is art! My least favorite is math; it is definitely not my strong point!

Grace: I like reading and writing pretty well. Music is good, too. My least favorite subject is Grammar! Thankfully, Clara and I help each other out with our worst subjects.

Caroline: My favorite subject is history. I’m not sure I really have a least favorite, but I guess I don’t care for science too much.

Julie: My favorite subject is Math! My least favorite is probably writing, though.

Name one thing you Appreciate or Admire about one of your sisters.

Each doll will take one of their sisters. ๐Ÿ™‚

Clara: I like that Grace takes the time to play with me. She is really friendly and outgoing. We do get in fights and arguments sometimes, but we’re also close and have fun together. I also really appreciate that we can help each other with our homework. ๐Ÿ™‚

Grace: I admire Caroline’s quiet and caring personality. She is very thoughtful and discerning. You might not expect it, but she can really step out and be courageous when she needs to be.

Caroline: I really like how Julie takes on responsibility in our home. She isn’t perfect, and isn’t always right, but she tries to do what’s best. She is like the mother-figure in our family, and I can see that the younger girls respect her.

Julie: I love all the fun that Clara brings into our family. She’s a very active girl who just loves to have fun. She keeps us laughing. Even though sometimes she can get out of hand… ๐Ÿ˜‰

This picture isn’t very good, quality wise ๐Ÿ™‚ , but I think it’s pretty sweet :-). The dolls are having a movie night, popcorn and all! It looks like they’re watching off of Grace’s iPad. Oh and look! There’s my knee! XDย

Fun Facts

  • None of the dolls have a nickname! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  • When I bought Clara (online) I had expected her to look pretty different. I think that this is because, at the time, I didn’t know that there were various face molds, so I probably expected her to have the Josefina mold, like Julie! It took me a while to get used to!

  • I received Julie as my first doll. Next I got Clara, then Grace, and finally, Caroline is my newest.

This is a picture of Grace dressed up as Julie! I took this picture for American Girl Fan’s 2015 Doll Costume Photo Contest!

Your Turn!

Now it’s time for your part of this post!

Comment down below with questions to get to know my dolls, whether about their hobbies, personality, favorites or just about anything! You can ask a specific doll a question, or all of them! And then they can reply and answer your questions in the comments!

Please limit to about 3 questions ๐Ÿ™‚ .

Also feel free to share fun facts about your doll(s), or have your dolls answer some of the questions that my dolls did! (Or you can answer them yourself, if you like!)

Do you have any fun facts about your dolls? Which fun fact or story behind a picture did you enjoy most? Do you have any questions for my dolls?ย

Here is my BIBPC (Boring into Beautiful Photography Contest, hosted by Megan!) entry!

I am on team Kiwi, and the category is Celebration!

DSCN0194edit.jpg

Story: I was looking through birthday photos and other celebration photos, and eventually pulled up this one that I got last Christmas. I really like how it turned out, and since Christmas is a celebration of Christ, and the decorations represent that, it fits the category!

Back-to-School Crafts and Fun Finds for Your Doll! +BIBPC

Hello!

Today I have a collection of doll school supply crafts and fun finds!

Here is the agenda…

CRAFTS:

Colored pencils/pencils

Lunch box

Duct Tape Pencil Case

Notebooks (With a Printable!)

Duct Tape Backpack (Link to other source)

FUN FINDS:

Backpack

Scissors

Most of the crafts I’m sharing are pretty simple, and some of them I had made a while back, so for those I will share the picture and a description of how to make it (or a link to the source of instructions)! I hope you enjoy!

Let’s start!

First up…

Colored Pencils

DSCN3998

Here are the colored pencils I made! They were super easy, and used a surprising (but common) supply to make–a pencil sharpener!

I used some small colored dowels (You could also color some plain dowels yourself, as I did with the blue pencils) and I cut each in half (Depending the size of your dowel or skewer, you may need to cut smaller or bigger pieces.).

Next sharpen the dowel! Yes, just with an ordinary sharpener! Then you can color your dowels. Make sure to color the sharpened tip to match the color your pencil is supposed to be.

If you want to make regular pencils instead, you can use a yellow or plain dowel and color the tip silver/grey, color the flat end pink for the eraser, and color a small strip of silver/grey right below the eraser for the small metal piece.

Lunchbox

DSCN4004

To make this, you need an empty mint tin. This can be a fun craft, because you get to paint the lunch box however you like! You could also glue on scrapbook paper, or use washi tape.

I’ll talk about the handle soon…

DSCN4013

DSCN4017

For the handle, you could just glue on a strip of craft foam, or you could make a sort of wire hinge like I did above. This can be kind of tricky though.

Here is a short description of how to make the wire handle:

You need a small ‘u’ shaped piece of wire to be glued (I used hot glue) onto the box, and an open rectangle-like piece for the handle that has curled ends to fit over the ‘u’ pieces. You can glue two strips of foam over the top of the handle for a grip.

Pencil Case

DSCN4020

Cut out a strip of duct tape that is about 3 and 1/2 inches long.

DSCN4021

Then cut out another and slightly overlap the two so that they are in one square sheet.

DSCN4023

Turn it so the square is sticky side up. Cut a strip of tape that is a little shorter than the first two pieces. 3 inches would probably be a good size. Stick it so that there is a little space left sticky on the side edge, but make sure the bottom edge is covered.

DSCN4024

Cut another the same size. Lay it the same way, but leave sticky space on the opposite side.

DSCN4026

Now fold the case from the bottom up so that the sticky sides meet. Make sure the non-sticky edges meet. Don’t fold over the sticky top.

DSCN4027

You can trim the edges a little (I folded over a sticky edge, as well) and trim the top into a shape you would like for the flap of your case.

DSCN4029

Cut a tiny strip and fold it from the sticky side of the flap to the other side of the flap. This is to help with opening the case.

DSCN4032

Then you are done! Just fold down the sticky flap to close the pouch. You can use the little strip in the middle to help you re-open it.

DSCN4033

The little colored pencils from earlier fit inside!

Notebook

First off, you can print out the below printable that I made using Picmonkey.

Note Book

You can open the image in a new tab and print it from there. (Make sure the margins are none and the scale is normal, or 100.) You could also copy/paste the image into a Word document.

If you don’t want to use the printable, you can cut out a 3 by 2 and 1/2 inch piece of paper and design your own.

DSCN4055

Next cut out two pieces of card-stock, same size as the notebook cover (for reinforcing the cover and for the back) per notebook you are making, and cut out several sheets of lined paper for the sheets inside the notebook (again, same size as the cover).

Then glue one of your card-stock pieces to the back of the cover. Stack up the papers, with the lined papers sandwiched between the cover and the back. Staple the edges of the stack together. Try to make sure the edges of paper are lined up neatly.

DSCN4065

Cut out a piece of card-stock (I used black) that is about 3/4 inch by 3 inches. There are a couple of ways you can make the binding. The simple way would be to take your piece of card-stock and just fold it over the edge of the notebook, covering the staples.

The nicer, but more difficult way would be to fold the card-stock like the above picture, with a more squared edge for the notebook. The space between the folds should be very very small. Just big enough to fit around the edge of the notebook.

Whichever way you choose to do the binding, glue it onto the edge of the notebook.

DSCN4072

And you’re finished!

DSCN4157

Here’s Clara and Caroline, ready for school!

Clara is modeling the duct Tape Backpack craft! You can find this craft tutorial here.

Also in the picture are a couple of fun finds! I found the pink/red backpack at Target! It is a Yoobi brand key chain coin pouch! The straps seem a bit small to fit on the dolls, but I’ll probably just sew on a little more ribbon to make them longer.

Also, I found the mini green scissors at World Market! I think they were advertised to fit in purses, but are perfect for AG dolls! Note: I don’t recommend letting your scissors hang perilously halfway out of your backpack. XD

Both of these finds were under $5!

DSCN4163

I hope you enjoyed these crafts and fun finds!

Are you going to make any of these? Which craft or fun find was your favorite? How is school going?

Do you like school supply sections in stores…? I sure do! XD

Have a blessed day!

Here is my (Late! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ) BIBPC entry!

I’m on Team Kiwi and the category is Books!

DSCN4141

Story: I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but somehow I came up with the idea of taking a picture of my stuffed animal with a book! He’s pretty cute and expressive, and it’s fun to put him in different poses. I ended up choosing this one from the photos I had gotten. (His name is Bear, in case you were wondering, because when I got him I would want to call him a teddy bear, even though he is a dog. ๐Ÿ™‚ So Bear seemed to fit him! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) (And the book is Wonder!)

BIBPC #5; Category 2

Hello!

I was going to make a craft post, but ran out of time, so here is my BIBPC entry!

I’m on Team Kiwi, and the category is circles!

DSCN4122edit.jpg

Story: I think it was kind of in my head to photograph some sort of neat circular structure, object, or few objects, but… we had M&M’s… so why not sprinkle some M&M’s around with other fun circular things? ๐Ÿ˜€ (And then I ate the M&M’s XD XD )

Also, before I end this post, Mary Elizabeth is having a giveaway on her blog! It ends very soon, so be sure to check it out!

Do you like M&M’s? Have you started school yet?

Have a blessed day!
