Clara Practices Gymnastics 3 – Clara on the Beam

Hello there!

I hope you enjoy another enstallment of Clara practicing gymnastics! If you would like to see the last two times that Clara practiced gymnastics, you can check out her floor practice here, and her bar practice here!

Without further ado, take it away, Clara! 😉

DSCN2324

Hey everyone! I’m excited to get to show you my beam skills today!

DSCN2318

Remember, before doing gymnastics, be well-stretched and have a good mat or soft floor area.

DSCN2326

Also make sure to tie your hair back! I also left off my glasses, since I don’t have contacts, and my vision isn’t too bad.

DSCN2316

Let’s begin! Now when Gracie is at her gymnastics, she would probably do releve (Re-le-vay) walks across the beam, which means walking on your toes, but since I’m a doll with unmovable ankles, and I don’t want to bore you with simply walking across the beam, I’ll do step kicks across the beam instead!

DSCN2331

So I kick and step,

DSCN2333

kick and step.

DSCN2334

DSCN2335

Pivot turn!

Now let’s try something more interesting. How about a handstand?

DSCN2337

Lunge, lever, (Note, use your good leg consistently in skills like handstands and cartwheels, as I had forgotten to do 😉 )

DSCN2339

And kick up! (Also, I highly recommend NOT closing your eyes during your gymnastics skills 😛 )

DSCN2341

DSCN2343

DSCN2344

Normally Gracie would land a handstand in a lunge, but since lunges are harder for us dolls, I just stuck the landing.

I’m going to try a split jump!

DSCN2347

Up, split, and…!

DSCN2349

Whooaa!

DSCN2350

Oof! Oops, I was supposed to stick that… Well, at least you know now why to have a mat!

DSCN2354

I’ll just do my good leg splits on the beam!

DSCN2357

Next I want to show you my side handstand dismount!

DSCN2359

Lever, kickup,

DSCN2362

DSCN2365

and dismount! For this skill I needed to keep my hands on the beam all the way till I reach the ground!

DSCN2367

And stick it!

DSCN2374

Now you may remember from other times that I’ve shown you my gymnastics, that I always have one skill that I want to show you, but that I need help with! Last time Caroline spotted me, and this time…

DSCN2375

Julie came to help!

DSCN2378

I’m going to do a cartwheel on the beam!

DSCN2380

Lever,

DSCN2384

and cartwheel!

DSCN2389

DSCN2393

Yippee! Thanks Julie!

DSCN2399

That’s it for today! I hope that you enjoyed! And a special thanks to Julie for spotting me today!

DSCN2401

Bye!

Behind the Scenes!

(It’s Gracie again!)

DSCN2329

Our family cat walked into the setup a few times, and I snapped some pictures of him!

DSCN2385

DSCN2405

Here is the setup that I made for this post, consisting of a blanket, several old books, and some reflecting tools!

Also, a big thanks to my brother who helped hold up Clara for a lot of pictures!

This might be the last “Clara Practices Gymnastics! 😮 At least, that was my original plan, but maybe she could come back again on the vault…

Did you enjoy seeing Clara practice her beam skills? Would you like to see Clara on the vault? Do you/have you ever done gymnastics?

How to Make a Braid Crown – Doll Hairstyle

Hi everyone!

Remember the braid crown hairstyle that Julie had in the previous post? I’m here to show you how to make it! It’s actually pretty simple, but can be a bit tricky.

Well, let’s get started!

DSCN1444 braid crown

You will need:

  • A doll with long hair {Keep in mind that layered hair might be harder to make this style with.} or yourself!
  • Hairbrush
  • Hair elastics
  • Bobby pins
  • Optional: Spray bottle/mister

To begin, brush out your doll’s hair.

DSCN1440

Next divide the hair in half. Braid each section, (start the braid with the section nearest the face) Keep it tight and smooth, but not so tight that the braid gets super short. Braid them as long as possible, even if a few pieces start popping out. Tie off with elastics.

DSCN1441

Then pull the first braid up and over the head, and pin the braid down with a bobby pin on the other side of the head.

DSCN1442

Then pull the second braid over, using it to hide the end of the first braid.

DSCN1443

Tuck the end of the second braid underneath the first braid. Pin.

You can now bobby pin any major flyaways or if some of the hair bulged from being pulled up.

DSCN1445

And you are done with your braid crown!

DSCN1444

The back isn’t really anything special, here’s a view in case you’re curious:

I hope you enjoyed! Happy Hairstyling!

Are you going to try out a braid crown?

Sisters

HI!

I got this idea a while back, and finally have done it!

I thought it’d be super cute to do a photoshoot with Julie and Clara. They are practically exact opposites. Youngest and oldest. Brunette and blonde. Light eyes and dark eyes. Freckles and no freckles. Wavy hair and straight hair. (Not to mention different face molds!) Yet sisters all the same. 🙂

Also, you may notice the pictures don’t seem to be the best quality. I’m thinking that perhaps the computer compressed them? I’m still experimenting with my new camera, so hopefully I can correct that with a higher quality setting. 🙂

Well let’s get onto the photoshoot!

Thanks to Kiki for Julie’s super cute hairstyle!

Which picture is your favorite? Any suggestions for using my new camera? Do you have any dolls that are very different from each other?

Lost – Part 2

Part 1 here

Clara’s Point of View

cam02014

I had been sitting on the grass for five long minutes. Where in the world did Grace go? I wondered, looking at the time on my phone.

I began to worry.

cam02016

Seven minutes. I began to pace back and forth anxiously.

Eight minutes

cam02018

Ok, that’s it. I’m calling Julie. I dialed the number with shaking hands.

Grace is just looking for the frisbee. She’ll probably be back any minute now. Stop overthinking things, Clara! I continued to dial Julie’s number, in spite of my optimistic thoughts.

Three minutes later, Julie was there. Grace had been gone eleven minutes now.

cam02019

“Hi Clara! What’s up?” Julie called enthusiastically.

“Grace went off to find the frisbee and has been gone,” I checked my phone,”twelve minutes now.”

Julie’s brow furrowed. She quickly tried to act cheerful.

cam02020

“Let’s just stay calm,” Julie said, in a forced voice. She was worried. “Grace will probably show up any minute… any second…” I nodded slowly, not really believing Julie.

Thirteen minutes.

“Say, uh, which direction did you say Grace went?” Julie asked, she was obviously nervous. She was trying to stay calm and seem unafraid (so not to frighten me). Let’s just say Julie could never be an actress.

cam02021

“I didn’t say,” I replied, then motioned towards where Grace had walked off, fourteen minutes ago, “she went that way.”

We began to walk quickly.

cam02022

Fifteen minutes. Then sixteen…

By twenty minutes we had stopped acting like Grace might be okay. Grace was not okay. Grace was lost. And we were frightened.

cam02024

Twenty-three minutes. Still no luck.

We had no idea that we were right beside the cliff that Grace was laying on the other side of, unconscious.

cam02027

“That’s it, Clara,” Julie said. “We can’t find her! We have to form a search party! Call your friends; I’ll call Caroline and some others. Tell them to meet us here for an emergency. And,” Julie looked at the dark clouds forming in the sky. “to bring umbrellas.”

It had been twenty-five minutes.

Sooner than I would have liked, I would be counting the hours.

AAAHHH!!!!

Are you looking forward to next Wednesday? How are you enjoying this series?

P.P.S. Also, I adjusted one of my polls, and made a couple new ones! Check them out here!

The Hair-Do Without a Name…

I have a hairstyle tutorial for you all today! The only problem is, I can’t seem to figure out a name for it… any suggestions are much appreciated!

Let’s start!

cam01922

First take large front sections of your doll’s hair and tie them back (like a loose half-up ponytail, but with about half of the doll’s hair)

cam01925

Tie a bow with some ribbon around that section.

cam01926

Now take the section that is not tied, and split it in half. Divide the sections and wrap them around to the front, and tie off. Add another bow.

cam01934

Now repeat all the way down! At the last one, wrap your elastic once around the front section (that you just pulled to the front), and again around the whole thing. Tie the bow around the whole thing.

And you’re done!

cam01936

cam01938

I hope you like this cute style! It could also be done with out bows, If you want. Any suggestions for a name for it? Perhaps it could be called a wrap braid… or something XD .

Also, be sure to submit a caption for my caption it, here! I will be posting my favorite captions on Wednesday, so you can vote for your favorite (or if no one else captions then Grace will be the winner, since she’s the only caption-er so far… 😛 )

Also #2, I made a new button! So if we’ve swapped buttons already, I’d appreciate if you changed it on your page! You can find my button on my “Buttons!” page.

Also #3, I made a sign off!

What do you think? I designed it with Picmonkey. I was trying to go for the look of an old postcard or something 🙂 .

Bye for now!
