A Basket of Thankfulness – Thanksgiving Activity 2018

Hello everyone! Happy November!

Welcome to Smile and Craft AG’s third annual Basket of Thankfulness activity!

A Basket of Thankfulness 2018

Here is a link to view the ones from 2017 and 2016!

I love Thanksgiving; it is probably my favorite holiday! I love hosting these activities each year and seeing the many things that you all are thankful for! It’s such a blessing to me, and I hope to you as well!

So, let’s get into it!

What is A Basket of Thankfulness?

In case you weren’t here last year, or if you forgot, A Basket of Thankfulness is an activity that occurs each November to inspire us to be thankful. The process is simple: you comment with a list (or just one thing is OK too!) of things you are thankful for, and on Thanksgiving day I publish a post with a big compilation of all of the things we thought of over November!

What are the Rules?

  • Comment below with things you are thankful for. You can comment with as few or as many things you want! However, make sure you are thoughtful about the things you comment. Don’t just write down everything that’s sitting on your desk at the moment.
  • Then, on Thanksgiving day, I will compile and post all the things we’ve listed (without repeats) and put them in a big numbered list of things we’re thankful for! I will also list the contributors. 🙂
  • Please note, if I, and/or my mom, decide that anything posted is inappropriate or against our convictions, we can remove any item commented from the list.

Also, please spread the word about this activity–I would really appreciate it! Let’s make a list bigger than ever, and grow in thankfulness in the process!

So, what are you thankful for?

Have a blessed day!

A Basket of Thankfulness – Thanksgiving Activity!

It’s NOVEMBER!

And November means that Thanksgiving is knocking at the door (here in America, anyways)!

What do you think of when you think Thanksgiving?

Maybe you think of all the delicious food: Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie. Or perhaps you think of family and friends that you’ll see that day. Maybe the Macy’s Day parade or another festive tradition.

Pumpkins. Baking. Falling leaves. Cool weather.

Giving thanks.

Today we’re here to dive into that last one. Being thankful is so important. God calls us to give thanks. Gratefulness can change our whole outlook on life and the situations we’re in, good or bad.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” -Psalm 100:4-5

So, like last year, I have an activity for us to do to help us think and reflect on how much we have to be thankful for!

I hope that through this activity you will take some thought into how you’ve been blessed, and how much you can be thankful for, whether it is easy for you to think of, or difficult.

Here’s How it Works:

  • Comment below and list things you are thankful for! It can be one thing, several things, or as many as you want!
  • Be sincere. Try to put some thought into it, and think outside of the box. There are many noticeable (and wonderful) things to be thankful for like family and friends, which are fine to put, too, but try to dig even deeper into things that are less on the surface, or that others may not think of as much.
  • Spread the word! Okay, so this is not required, but I would appreciate if you decided to share this activity, whether on your blog or other social media so we can gather up many things to be thankful for!
  • Then, on November 23 (Thanksgiving Day) I can post everything that we’ve said in a great big list of thankfulness, along with the names of those who contributed!

This year I plan to put the list as one big list, with repeats taken out, and with contributor names at the end. 🙂

I’ll start us off with five things I am thankful for.

  1. The gospel!
  2. Light
  3. Creativity
  4. People being unique
  5. Our freedoms

And now it’s your turn!

Comment down below and let’s fill up this year’s Basket of Thankfulness!!

It’s November! That means, for many of us, that Thanksgiving is coming up! It is always a good thing to think on all of the wonderful blessings God has given us, and Thanksgiving is a great reminder to do that!

Sooo, I’ve thought up an activity for us to do this November, and here’s how it works:

  • Comment below with things you are thankful for! It can be one thing, or it can be twenty things! As many as you want! But, please, be sincere. Try to put some thought into it!
  • Then, on November 24 (Thanksgiving Day) I can post everything that we’ve said in a great big list of thankfulness, along with those who contributed!
  • The goal: To encourage and remind us to be thankful this season, and to remind us of God’s goodness and blessings. With a little thought, you can realize So, So Many things to be thankful for! Even simple things, like breakfast and t-shirts. Or thrift stores and charities. How ’bout plates and cups?

I’ll kick off the list with a few things I’m thankful for:

  1. Jesus!
  2. Blogging
  3. Work
  4. Rest
  5. Kindness

And now it’s your turn! What do you say we completely overflow this “Basket of Thankfulness”!

Before I sign off,  I wanted to mention that I’d LOVE if you’d spread the word about this, so we can get as many contributors as we can! Or you can even host a “basket of thankfulness” on your own blog!
