It’s NOVEMBER!
And November means that Thanksgiving is knocking at the door (here in America, anyways)!
What do you think of when you think Thanksgiving?
Maybe you think of all the delicious food: Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie. Or perhaps you think of family and friends that you’ll see that day. Maybe the Macy’s Day parade or another festive tradition.
Pumpkins. Baking. Falling leaves. Cool weather.
Giving thanks.
Today we’re here to dive into that last one. Being thankful is so important. God calls us to give thanks. Gratefulness can change our whole outlook on life and the situations we’re in, good or bad.
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” -Psalm 100:4-5
So, like last year, I have an activity for us to do to help us think and reflect on how much we have to be thankful for!
I hope that through this activity you will take some thought into how you’ve been blessed, and how much you can be thankful for, whether it is easy for you to think of, or difficult.
Here’s How it Works:
- Comment below and list things you are thankful for! It can be one thing, several things, or as many as you want!
- Be sincere. Try to put some thought into it, and think outside of the box. There are many noticeable (and wonderful) things to be thankful for like family and friends, which are fine to put, too, but try to dig even deeper into things that are less on the surface, or that others may not think of as much.
- Spread the word! Okay, so this is not required, but I would appreciate if you decided to share this activity, whether on your blog or other social media so we can gather up many things to be thankful for!
- Then, on November 23 (Thanksgiving Day) I can post everything that we’ve said in a great big list of thankfulness, along with the names of those who contributed!
This year I plan to put the list as one big list, with repeats taken out, and with contributor names at the end. 🙂
I’ll start us off with five things I am thankful for.
- The gospel!
- Light
- Creativity
- People being unique
- Our freedoms
And now it’s your turn!
Comment down below and let’s fill up this year’s Basket of Thankfulness!!
I love this idea! I’m thankful for the moon, especially, after seeing the Total Solar Eclipse this past August! And actually, I’m thankful for seeing that amazing creation by God so that’s # 2 I’m thankful for the ability to smile and have others smile back! Great post!
